As America celebrates its independence on the 4th of July, the people of Israel celebrate with you.
Our friendship goes back 71 years, to the very beginning of Israel’s independence. In fact, the United States became the first country to recognize the State of Israel within hours of David Ben-Gurion’s announcement on May 14, 1948, Israel’s Independence Day.
You may have heard about the attack in an orthodox synagogue near San Diego during the Saturday morning Sabbath service on the final day of Passover this year.
This attack came exactly six months after the deadly attack on the Pittsburgh synagogue that killed 11 worshippers.
Today MAGEN DAVID ADOM is saving lives in Mozambique.
When a cyclone hit Mozambique a few months ago — killing hundreds and leaving hundreds of thousands homeless and hungry — MAGEN DAVID ADOM immediately sent help to International Red Cross officials to set up a field hospital and coordinate relief efforts over the next four months.
Since two of the worst mass shootings in U.S. history occurred in Florida recently, MAGEN DAVID ADOM came to America to conduct mass casualty response training for Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, and Monroe EMTs and law-enforcement officials.
“South Florida is faced with an increasing number of situations that could result in a high number of casualties,” said Gina Beato-Dominguez, a lieutenant with the Miami-Dade Police Department.
There are people in Israel today who thank God for you. They don’t know you, but you have helped save their lives.
Here are three stories of how your generous support has enabled first responders, Israel’s modern-day heroes, to save thankful men, women, and children in the most urgent of circumstances.
MAGEN DAVID ADOM welcomes volunteer first responders from all over the world. Michael, from Austria, remembers the day he saved a baby’s life:
“I was assigned to Intensive Care Unit #23 at Station Ashdod when the call came in for my team to pick up a 17-day-old baby in the dangerous border region between Gaza and Israel.
When they heard the sirens and then a rocket explode, MAGEN DAVID ADOM First Responders Neomi and Einav rolled out immediately. They didn’t wait for the phone to ring. They were stationed in southern Israel, not far from the Gaza Strip.
They followed the smoke trail into the village of Ashkelon. Near the blast site they found Yarin, a 16-year-old boy on the ground in severe condition. He was unconscious, bleeding heavily, riddled with shrapnel.
