When 15-year-old Lana Liani left school one afternoon, the last thing on her mind was her MAGEN DAVID ADOM first-aid training. But upon arriving home, she immediately recognized something was terribly wrong with her father, Rafael.
He was disoriented, struggling to speak, and collapsed on the couch. Drawing on her MAGEN DAVID ADOM youth volunteer training, Lana acted fast — performing diagnostic checks she learned from her instructors and urging her mother to rush him to the hospital.
There, doctors diagnosed Rafael with a severe bacterial brain infection. Without immediate treatment, they said, he likely would not have survived. Thank God for the quick thinking of a 15-year-old.
“I went to MAGEN DAVID ADOM so I could help people and save lives. I never imagined I could save my own father,” Lana said.
This is the power of your support. Every donation helps train more Israeli youth like Lana to save lives — even in their own families. MAGEN DAVID ADOM’s Youth Volunteer Program comprises 15,000 teens from 15-18 years old.
