Medevac Unit Saves Lives and Limbs

Medevac Unit Saves Lives and Limbs

AFMDA Story

In an emergency situation where an injured or critically ill person is far from a hospital or a specialized medical care facility, a helicopter can be a lifesaver.

MAGEN DAVID ADOM has provided the people of Israel with nationwide Medevac services — emergency medical evacuation by helicopter — for around 15 years, but now MAGEN DAVID ADOM’s new squadron of Sikorsky S-76 helicopters are larger, stronger, and faster than its previous air ambulances.

The new and improved Medevac Units—helicopters, pilots, and specially-trained paramedics—are based out of Tiberias in Israel’s north and near Be’er Sheva in the south.

Over the past few months, MAGEN DAVID ADOM Medevac teams have saved dozens of lives and limbs in the new helicopters, including an 18-year-old young man with a severed hand from an ATV accident, a 57-year-old man who suffered a cardiac event in the Jordan Valley, a 21-year-old injured by an exploding gas canister, and many others.
