MAGEN DAVID ADOM was immediately on the scene after two terrorists opened fire at a crowded bus stop in Ramot, Jerusalem. The shooters hit drivers, pedestrians, and bus riders. MAGEN DAVID ADOM dispatched EMTs and paramedics in ambulances and MICUs, and first responders on Medicycles, to provide lifesaving medical assistance.

Unfortunately, six people were pronounced dead from their gunshot wounds. Teams provided medical care and evacuated nine injured people, six seriously injured and three mildly injured, to Shaare Zedek Medical Center, Hadassah University Hospital-Ein Kerem, and Hadassah University Hospital-Mount Scopus. MDA’s blood services supplied these hospitals with approximately 85 units of blood and blood components to treat those who had been shot.

“When I arrived, there was extensive destruction and broken glass on the ground. It was a chaotic scene. I saw victims lying on the sides of the road and on the sidewalk near the bus stop. Some were unconscious,” said MAGEN DAVID ADOM paramedic Fadi Dakidak. “We provided medical care and evacuated the victims to nearby hospitals.”

Paramedic Shlomi Levi shared, “I arrived at a very difficult scene and immediately began providing medical care to a woman in her 70s with gunshot wounds to her upper body. With the assistance of additional MDA teams, she was evacuated in a mobile intensive care unit (MICU) to the hospital in serious condition. I continued scanning the scene and provided medical care to a woman in her 40s who was conscious and had gunshot wounds to her upper body. I provided lifesaving treatment and evacuated her to the hospital in stable condition.”

“Unfortunately, we are prepared for such difficult events and have considerable experience,” said Ori Shaham, MAGEN DAVID ADOM Jerusalem Region director. “We train our teams – even during periods of calm – so that they are ready to respond in these moments.”
