When my farm fell victim to eminent domain I made a pledge to G-d that if anything good ever happened, I’d do something good for Israel. When I got a letter saying the government was willing to make a deal, my wife said, “Well, you know what you promised.” The next letter I opened was from Magen David Adom, Israel’s Red Cross. I went to check out the organization, saw they were serious and very important, and then I donated an ambulance to help save lives in Israel. In our part of the world, we aren’t living in fear all the time. I am really glad to be able to help Israel. I’ve been to Israel many times and seen all the holy sites, but I wanted a closer relationship with the Israelis, and that’s what happened. I even brought my family, and my grandson donated blood in person. Not everyone can get to Israel like we have, but it’s important to support Israel and save lives there, and that’s exactly what Heart to Heart Israel is about.
